Importing Geological and Geophysical Data (Data Loading)
This course is designed primarily to show data loaders how to use The KINGDOM software to load various types of geological and geophysical data. Interpreters are encouraged to attend this course in order to learn the data loading process and methods to QC their data. The course assumes that the attendee has a fundamental understanding of the data types used in this class. Hands-on data loading exercises paired with discussion cover the following areas:
- How to create and manage a project including establishing project boundaries, choosing an X/Y projection, the use of authors, and more
- Culture (geographic layer) input: creating and entering culture data on the base map including formatted and unformatted data entry and the importing of ESRI shape files
- Well data input: using file sources such as IHSEnergy and ascii formatted data; loading of well locations, deviation surveys, formation tops, log curves, local and shared T-D information, and production data
- Using the SEG-Y Viewer to examine 2D and 3D header data
- 2D & 3D data loading from files and the use of SMT’s Share/Copy feature for seismic data
NOTE: This course prepares you to load culture, well and seismic data. QC steps necessary to ensure the accuracy of the loaded data are also demonstrated.
