Convert seismic to depth and create velocity models

Depth conversion and velocity modeling can be a time and labor-intensive process that often leaves nagging questions about accuracy and the ever-present “what ifs?” KINGDOM’s depth conversion capability, built in partnership with Equipoise Software, Ltd., is designed for all levels of depth conversion— from simple to the most complex. The result is an incredibly accurate model that speaks volumes—faster and easier than ever before.

Geoscientists can construct velocity models to predict depth from seismic time. Its user-friendly, intuitive design makes any degree of detail possible, from simple depth conversions through complex multilayer velocity volumes using acoustic logs, processing velocities and mapping using geostatistics.


Predefined workflows can be used to run a number of standard and expert depth conversion techniques successfully, with minimal learning curve. These depth conversions use either classic formulae or user-defined methods.


Time-depth conversion can be achieved through the creation of a 3D velocity model of average or interval velocities. In the simplest case, VelPAK provides a quick-look depth conversion requiring very little user interaction.


KINGDOM VelPAK provides two work modes: surface depth conversion mode for regional modeling, and profile mode for single 2D lines, arbitrary lines, in-line or cross-lines using a sealed earth model. The profile mode is ideal for salt diapirs, over-thrusts and complex geology including lenses and reefs.


Other features include full support for model building using geological surfaces, formation tops, well acoustic logs, check shot data, seismic processing velocities and geostatistics. Intelligent layer definition enables surface assignments from many formation tops.


Comprehensive graphing techniques are available for scatter data, curves, surfaces and stack data in virtually any combination as well as interactive editing, robust fitting and custom graphs.

Graphing and Optimization

Processing Velocities

  • Interval velocities can be extracted and smoothed
  • Stack data can be used as a trend surface for mapping and creating pseudo wells to calibrate with log data

Volumes

  • Ability to produce a velocity volume and write it to SEG Y or TDQ formats. Average, interval and instantaneous velocities in the time or depth domain are supported
